See how courses from colleges and universities in the United States and around the world transfer to SIU!SIU Transfer Equivalency Guides
After admission to SIU, transfer credit is evaluated for acceptance toward University Core Curriculum (UCC) and degree requirements. Remedial, developmental or pre‐college coursework will not be accepted for transfer credit.
Review and evaluation of courses for UCC credit is determined by the office of Articulation & Evaluation. Articulation of major courses or departmental credit is determined by the department. Credit not applied to UCC requirements or to a specific degree program will be considered general elective credit. Your point of contact for degree specific requirements and transfer credit is your academic advisor.
In addition to courses taken at other institutions, proficiency exams, military service, industry certifications, and work experience can also be accepted for transfer credit.
Students who transfer to SIU Carbondale with IAI GECC Certification noted on their official transcript from an Illinois school, will have met the UCC requirements for general graduation purposes. View list of IAI GECC Courses at SIU.
